Why You Should Meditate Daily
Working out and eating right are important…but how many of us meditate regularly? Whether it’s post-gym, in nature, or when you just need a little clarity during a stressful day, meditation is a great way to get centered.
So, we all know that we should get a little zen, but how do we actually do it? Here’s a simple way to start! This easy approach to meditation should ideally be done in a quiet place. We think on top of a mountain is the perfect spot, obviously.
- Put your phone on silent and get seated in a comfy position. If you can sit in a lotus position, great! If not, no worries. It’s all about being comfortable and at ease, and minimizing distractions.
- Start by breathing in and out slowly. Your inhalation/exhalation should last for about six seconds. Breathe in through your nose, and out through your mouth.
- Try to let your mind drift. People often think that meditation means emptying your mind completely, but that’s not the case, and that’s actually pretty much impossible. We just like to focus on our breath – if some stray thoughts linger, that’s ok. Just focus on inhaling and holding it in for a second, exhaling, and repeating. It’s as simple as that.
Meditating daily for just a few moments is vital to stress management. It can combat depression, anxiety, elevated stress levels, fatigue, and can improve your memory-retention and increase your focus. That sounds like a win-win to us.
