4 Quick Tips for Holiday Travel
Follow these tips for smooth sailing (or flying) this holiday season. Avoid the stress that can come with traveling, so that you can focus on what matters most... enjoying time with friends and family!
Prep In Advance
There are a few things you should get together days before your departure date. If you’re planning on traveling with gifts, consider shipping them ahead of time. Be aware of shipping services holiday timelines to ensure that they arrive when you do (Check USPS Deadlines: Here)! If you plan on parking at the airport, reserve your spot. Our favorite is Wallypark - you can reserve a valet spot in advance and return to a freshly cleaned car. Can’t beat that when you’re in a rush to get home!
Pack Wisely
Time to revamp your packing process with these tips and tricks! Most of us have the mindset that it’s better to be over-prepared than under-prepared. We’re here to tell you that it’s okay to pack light! When it comes to the holidays, we’re all too busy having fun with family and friends to worry about the little things. Fortunately, it’s the winter season so layering is normal. Pack items that you can wear more than once and are multifunctional. Consider leaving your valuables at home, and opt for more sensible items. Don't forget your QALO rings! Squeeze even more into your check-on or carry-on with packing cubes, and go with the roll instead of fold technique. Wear your bulkiest items the day of your travel to allow for extra room for anything you may pick up along the way. And last but definitely not least, be sure to remember your headphones, a book, your water bottle (best to stay hydrated) and snacks for your carry-on!
Leave Early
It’s proven that airports see more traffic around the holidays. Avoid additional stress by planning to leave your house and arrive earlier than you standardly would. If you’re traveling with a big group, be sure to have a set deadline for when everyone should be ready. If your group typically tends to fall behind schedule, set that deadline for 15 minutes earlier (better to be safe than sorry!). Security lines tend to be longer around those times, so be sure to check-in and print your boarding passes prior to your departure or have them ready to go on your airline app.
Keep Your Cool
The most important thing to be aware of as you travel throughout this holiday season is your mindset. Consider that everyone around you is also making their way to go see their friends and family, so if things don’t go as planned, keep it cool. There’s no point in stressing over things you can’t control! ‘Tis the season to give thanks, so carry that with you as you interact with strangers along your journey.
Safe travels! ✈️
